FAQ

What is body contouring?

Non-invasive body contouring (other names commonly used: body sculpting, fat reduction, body cavitation, lipolysis) treatments are designed to help the body eliminate stubborn fat, smooth, tighten and shape the body (like fat reduction, cellulite treatments, skin tightening, and muscle tightening/toning).

What is the difference between subcutaneous fat and visceral fat?

Subcutaneous tissue sits in front of the muscle wall, beneath the skin. It’s usually pinch-able and pliable and can be pulled away from the body. Women are more prone to subcutaneous fat than men. Subcutaneous fat does not respond well to diet and exercise.

All body contouring treatments work beautifully with subcutaneous fat.

Visceral fat is the deep, internal fat behind the muscle wall. Healthy levels of visceral fat help to insulate and protect your internal organs, and also play a role in your endocrine and immune functions. However, excessive amounts or visceral fat can spell serious trouble for your performance and health. Visceral fat is two times more responsive to diet and exercise than subcutaneous fat.

Visceral fat cannot be treated with any body contouring treatment.

Who is a good candidate for body contouring?

Here are some general guidelines for determining whether you may be a good candidate for body contouring:

  • You have areas of stubborn fat that don't respond to diet and exercise
  • You are at or near your ideal weight
  • You have good skin elasticity (meaning your skin can bounce back after being stretched)
  • You are in good overall health, with no major medical conditions that could affect healing or recovery

You may be a good candidate for body contouring if you meet these criteria. However, it's important to remember that every person's body is unique, and the best way to determine your candidacy is to schedule a consultation.
